Healthy PNW Snowpack
Good news for spring/summer river paddlers here in the PNW. Thanks to late season snow storms and cold spring weather our snowpack is well above normal (Reference: USDA/NRCS chart above). Indeed, the lower Yakima has been flowing quite a bit above normal flows. Hopefully this snowmelt will continue to feed rivers well into the summer. This is great news for farmers who depend on this snowpack for irrigation every year and consumers who enjoy famous Washington products like apples, beer (hops), wine (grapes) and a wide variety of other fruit/veggies.
